On October 20th, Samarkand hosted the opening ceremony of the 25th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization. The event was organized with the assistance of the UNWTO and the International Tourism Academy was also established at the event.

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Aziz Abdukhakimov, the Minister of Ecology, Environment, and Climate Change, Zurab Pololikashvili, the Deputy Secretary-General of the WTO, as well as other ministers and delegates from member countries of the organization.

During his speech, Abdukhkhamov emphasized the importance of establishing a UNWTO office in cooperation with the Silk Road to coordinate projects and events related to international tourism. The office will also evaluate the work of organizations and experts in this field, providing recommendations for improvement.
